Summer Camp for Youth with Disabilities – Lisa Followay

Adaptive Sports Program of Ohio ‘s (ASPO) Youth Dream Camp was a huge success this summer! The camp took place at Recreation Unlimited July 28-30 and was open to youth ages 7-18 with a physical disability. Typically sidelined in activities, these youths were fully included and had the opportunity to participate in wheelchair basketball, adaptive track and field, swimming, kayaking, power wheelchair soccer, bocce, sitting volleyball and dancing. They benefited from adaptive equipment provided by ASPO and the camaraderie of their peers with disabilities. Not only did learn how to be healthy and active, they made friendships that will last a lifetime. ASPO appreciates the support that the Rite Aid KidCents Foundation has provided which enables us to continue to provide opportunities like this for youth with disabilities in our community year-round.
