Families Celebrated the Holidays at the Children’s Home Society of California Oakland Family Resource Center – Alice Luck

In December, the Oakland Family Resource Center, a program of the Children’s Home Society of California, presented their third annual holiday event, Winter Reading Wonderland. The event was a great success! Thirty-two families and 102 children attended. The children decorated holiday ornaments with their parents and attended story-time activities. More than 200 children’s toys were given out, courtesy of Toys for Tots and Petco, and 102 children’s books were distributed, courtesy of First Book.

The Oakland Family Resource Center presents several special events each year to promote early literacy, family wellness, and school readiness. The special events and our other core programs at the Oakland FRC are made possible through generous support from our donors and funders, including the Rite Aid Foundation’s KidsCents program. We want to thank Rite Aid for their continued support in 2018, enabling the Oakland FRC to continue offering fun, educational events and programs that help to strengthen vulnerable families across the East Bay and provide all children with the best possible start in life.

The Oakland Family Resource Center is located in the Eastmont Town Center in East Oakland. In addition to special events, the center offers the Resource and Referral Program, Early Developmental Screenings, and the Parent Connection Circle. The center is open Monday-Friday from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM. Families are welcome to visit on a drop-in basis or call (510) 267-1860 to schedule an appointment. All services are offered in English and Spanish.
